Things to do

In and around Baxby Manor

Baxby Manor, situated on the edge of Husthwaite village, was built in 1308 and is nestled between the Yorkshire Dales and the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors. The perfect place to stay for those wanting to be close to nature but also have the option to visit locals towns and attractions.

Nearby activities

Want to be an otter spotter?

At Baxby Manor, we have a whole host of incredible wildlife. Keep your eyes peeled for otters who live in Ings Beck. Look out for buzzards and kingfishers flying above and of course rabbits, stoats, weasels and squirrels playing amongst the trees. If you look closely, you may even spot a bat!

Only a stone’s throw away

The friendly market towns of Thirsk (7.3 miles) and Easingwold (4.6 miles), plus the historical city of York are just a short drive away (17 miles).

Places to eat

Don't fancy campfire cooking? We can recommend some incredible local pubs and restaurants. If you are feeling fancy there is even the Michelin star awarded restaurant, The Star.

Due to the Government announcement on Monday 22nd February 2021 Rufus’s Roost will be closed until 12th April 2021. The Hideaway will be closed until at least Monday 17th May 2021. We hope to re-open on Friday 21st May.

For stays at Rufus’s Roost between April 12th and May 17th you must be ONE HOUSEHOLD ONLY.

The “rule of six” or “two households” indoors will apply to ALL reservations at The Hideaway and Rufus’s Roost from May 17th (subject to change).

NB Any bookings of more than two households will not be able to stay, please rearrange your booking ASAP.

For those who were due to stay between now and the 21st May you have two options; change the dates or receive a full refund. We would really REALLY like to be able to offer you alternative dates. Please check the availability calendars for available dates before contacting us. This not only means you have something to look forward to but it also helps us as a small family-run business. It’s been a tough year! BUT WE’RE STILL HERE and moving your booking really does help us stay here!

If alternative dates don’t work for you then we will of course issue you a full refund.

Please email info@baxbymanor.co.uk if your stay with us is affected in any way.

If you are due to arrive ON OR AFTER THE 21st May our normal cancellation and amendment policies apply. Please click HERE for these.

If lockdown is extended (or there are any other updates) we will update this bulletin, please check back here first and foremost (before contacting us).

Thank you and we look forward to welcoming you to Baxby manor later this year!
