How to find us

Do not rely solely on your SAT-NAV.

Do not drive down Ings Lane.

  1. You should be turning onto a single-track lane, (we have now Tarmac’d the lane!!), opposite a cemetery with a red brick wall, (not a graveyard which is next to a church!).
  2. There is a small grass triangle at the end of the lane with a small oak tree in the middle.
  3. You should be able to see a green sign- ‘Baxby Manor’ and a wooden sign on the triangle for ‘The Hideaway’, ‘Rufus’s Roost’, and ‘Baxby Airsports’.
  4. ‘MANOR FARM’ in CARLTON-Husthwaite (with a tractor on the sign) is the WRONG entrance! It may look like a perfectly well maintained tarmac road but beyond the farm it deteriorates RAPIDLY and if you manage to get past the farm you WILL ground your car and get stuck further on!!

From the North

  1. A1/A19 to Thirsk, follow signs to York.
  2. Continue South on A19 IGNORING first turn-off at large crossroads signed CARLTON, HUSTHWAITE AND COXWOLD. Carrying on through village of Thormanby (on a hill), turning 2 miles on left signed Husthwaite, Coxwold, and 12th century church.
  3. Entrance to Baxby Manor is 2 miles on left opposite a cemetery and immediately before the village sign of Husthwaite.
  4. Entrance has small triangle with wooden signs and small Oak tree in middle!
  5. Follow small brown tent signs to arrive at The Hideaway!

From the South

  1. From the York ring-road take the A19 south towards Thirsk.
  2. Continue on A19 for approximately 12 miles. Over Easingwold by-pass (two roundabouts). Or call in at Easingwold for supplies!
  3. Turning on right (signposted Husthwaite, Coxwold, and 12th century church) approximately 2 miles after second roundabout.
  4. Entrance to Baxby Manor is 2 miles on left opposite a cemetery and immediately before the village sign of Husthwaite.
  5. Entrance has small triangle with wooden signs and small Oak tree in middle!
  6. Follow small brown tent signs to arrive at The Hideaway!

COVID-19 UPDATE - CLICK HERE

Due to the Government announcement on Monday 22nd February 2021 Rufus’s Roost will be closed until 12th April 2021. The Hideaway will be closed until at least Monday 17th May 2021. We hope to re-open on Friday 21st May.

For stays at Rufus’s Roost between April 12th and May 17th you must be ONE HOUSEHOLD ONLY.

The “rule of six” or “two households” indoors will apply to ALL reservations at The Hideaway and Rufus’s Roost from May 17th (subject to change).

NB Any bookings of more than two households will not be able to stay, please rearrange your booking ASAP.

For those who were due to stay between now and the 21st May you have two options; change the dates or receive a full refund. We would really REALLY like to be able to offer you alternative dates. Please check the availability calendars for available dates before contacting us. This not only means you have something to look forward to but it also helps us as a small family-run business. It’s been a tough year! BUT WE’RE STILL HERE and moving your booking really does help us stay here!

If alternative dates don’t work for you then we will of course issue you a full refund.

Please email info@baxbymanor.co.uk if your stay with us is affected in any way.

If you are due to arrive ON OR AFTER THE 21st May our normal cancellation and amendment policies apply. Please click HERE for these.

If lockdown is extended (or there are any other updates) we will update this bulletin, please check back here first and foremost (before contacting us).

Thank you and we look forward to welcoming you to Baxby manor later this year!
